TUNet combines a 220 MHz wide area network (WAN) with a 900 MHz local area network (LAN) to create a hybrid wireless solution that delivers excellent range and data throughput in high density urban areas as well as challenging rural environments. A single radio channel supports tens of thousands of devices. More antennas and/or channels can be added to increase range, communications capabilities and accommodate growing populations. Other TCP/IP connections can be employed if a utility prefers cellular, WiFi or another method of WAN transmission. TUNet is an event driven network. Each endpoint module (meter, transformer, capacitor) sends regular consumption and voltage reads (typically hourly or daily). If an anomaly occurs caused by an outage or voltage spike, the device instantly sends an alert to the operations center. Utility staff can also request data on-demand from individual or groups of TUNet meters. Tantalus combines rugged hardware with a self-healing network to ensure outstanding reliability and end-to-end communications. Interoperability with equipment and applications from leading manufacturers enables a utility to continue to use its preferred meters. Tight adherence to industry standards ensures that TUNet data interfaces with billing, CIS, GIS, MDM and other utility applications. Ultimately, usage information can be presented to customers via a secure, private web page in order to close the loop between the utility and the people it serves. > TUNet Diagram :: 11x17 :: 750k PDF
