RF SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Location: Raleigh, NC

The recent award of $3.4 billion in Smart Grid Investment Grants by the US Department of Energy has spurred utilities to invest in leading smart grid technologies such as the Tantalus Utility Network (TUNet®). Tantalus has several new and existing customers who benefited from the SGIG program and are now placing orders to start or accelerate their projects. Tantalus is seeking an RF Systems Engineer to help our rapidly growing customer base implement the Smart Grid.

Role:
The RF Systems Engineer is an active member of the Field Operations team responsible for delivering and implementing customer contracts. Your role will be to coordinate, supervise, and execute radio network deployments from initiation through delivery, including site surveys, installation, configuration, commissioning, and other associated details. You will work with internal departments such as Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing to coordinate product deliveries and communicate customer requirements. You will be a primary interface with our customers, intent on ensuring that Tantalus meets or exceeds expectations. Your responsibilities will also include supporting customers in solving complex product problems, training customers, and providing technical support. You may be required to travel as much as one to three weeks per month on average. You may also be called upon to undertake duties outside those of your principle role as stated above.

Education Required
1.
Degree or technologist diploma in electrical, electronic or computer engineering.
Experience Required
1.
Minimum 5 years work experience in large radio network implementations.
2.
Minimum 5 years work experience of direct interaction with customers.
3.
Use of RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes to diagnose radio equipment in less-than-ideal field conditions.
4.
Knowledge of radio propagation characteristics including affects of antenna selection and various environmental conditions.
5.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including MS-Project.
 
Experience Desired
1.
Work experience with electricity utilities.
2.
Licensed amateur radio operator.
3.
Skilled with theoretical radio propagation analysis software.
