Field Project Manager
Location:Vancouver, BC, Canada

The recent award of $3.4 billion in Smart Grid Investment Grants by the US Department of Energy has spurred utilities to invest in leading smart grid technologies such as the Tantalus Utility Network (TUNet®). Tantalus has several new and existing customers who benefited from the SGIG program and are now placing orders to start or accelerate their projects. To help with this rapid growth, Tantalus is seeking another Field Project Manager to lead the delivery of new contracts to utilities implementing the Smart Grid.

The Project Manager is a member of the Field Operations team responsible for delivering and implementing customer contracts. You will provide day-to-day oversight of deployments of the Tantalus Utility Network (TUNet®) at our customers' sites, and will be a primary customer interface intent on ensuring that Tantalus meets or exceeds expectations. You will plan, execute, monitor and control projects from initiation through delivery and commissioning. You will provide leadership to multiple parties, both within and outside the Company, to define requirements, establish the system design, coordinate deliveries and report to our customers. You will also oversee systems integration. You will negotiate and implement subcontracts when required. You will review and report project performance regularly to management and other stakeholders. You may be required to travel as much as one to three weeks per month. You must be capable and willing to travel to the USA and be eligible to obtain a USA work permit if required. You may also be called upon to undertake duties outside those of your principle role as stated above.


Experience and Education/Professional Credentials Required:
Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic or Computer preferred)
Minimum 2 years work experience managing or having a leading role in operational projects
Customer management experience or operating in a customer facing role
Current experience in using RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes to diagnose radio equipment in less-than-ideal field conditions
Experience Desired:
Work experience implementing and integrating information systems
Experience in the Electric Utility or Telecommunications industries is preferred
Work experience implementing or operating large telemetry, control, or communications systems
Experience deploying communications equipment and networks
Personal Attributes Required:
Able to multitask and manage more than one project at a time
Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead a multidisciplinary team to fulfill long-term objectives
Team builder and decisive
Attentive to detail and strong problem solver that is driven to excel
Able to manage the system engineering, deployment, integration and logistics of a large multi-faceted program
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English .
