Tantalus | Users Conference 2016

Training Outline:
Training is a key element of TUC. In order to maximize opportunities to customize the attendee experience, we offer multiple simultaneous sessions which attendees can mix and match. Attendees are not required to only attend courses in a single track.


TECHNICAL TRAINING SESSIONS

  1. 9 concurrent training blocks in 3 tracks
  2. Attendees can mix and match between sessions and tracks
  3. Each 3.5 hour training block is divided into 3 sub-sessions consisting of approximately 45-minutes of training and 15 minutes of hands-on exercises, group discussion, and/or Q & A

TRAINING APPROACH
  1. A mix of information sessions and interactive BYOD (laptop, tablet) workshops
  2. Customers can remotely dial into their own TUNet systems and ask utility-specific questions

TRACK 1: Introductory

Track 1 features topics most pertinent to Users who are new to TUNet (ex. <1 year into deployment) or to customers who would like a refresher on the basics of TUNet.

Utilizing TUNet for Enhanced Customer Service

Type: Informational

Description: Covers best practices for utilizing TUNet to enhance customer and member services. Learn about the basics of navigating TUNet and TRUView to troubleshoot customer issues, analyze consumption history, pro-actively identify potential customer issues, and more. Attendees will also learn about best practices for utilizing enhanced TUNet AMI features such as remote disconnect, outage management, and reporting.

Data Integrations

Description: This focuses on options & methodologies for integrating TUNet with leading third party AMI software applications from Tantalus' broad ecosystem of partners. Subject matter experts from Tantalus partners will be on hand to share best practices, answer questions, and present new feature enhancements. Presenters will also address topics such as security, server and database development, and potential roadblocks & remedies.

Topics Include: TUNet Integrations Overview, MultiSpeak, XML Integrations, Flat File Integrations, Web Services, LDAP, Troubleshooting Tips & Tricks

ERT Migration

Type: Informational

Tantalus Lead: TBD

Audience: AMI Project Managers, Deployment Team Members including Subcontractors, Metering (gas, water, electricity), Field Service Specialists, Engineering & Operations

Description: Overview, deployment types (full vs. overlay), setup requirements (LAN mode 4, firmware upgrades), understanding the authorization process, pseudo IDs, reading reliability, data flows, billing exports, tampers, monitoring and troubleshooting using TUNet displays. Customers will understand the field trial results and roll out process for ERT reading capability.

Topics Include: Solution Overview, Deployment Considerations, Integrating with MV-RS, Other Integrations, TCC Tools, Real World Performance, Firmware Improvements, Troubleshooting Tips & Tricks

Track 2 features topics most pertinent to Advanced TUNet Users such as utilities who are fully deployed or those who are 1+ years into deployment.

Description: This session is intended to provide Advanced TUNet Users with comprehensive training on optimizing and maintaining the network based on new content from our Tantalus University Certification Program. Topics include Device Association/Authorization/Validation, installing IPCs, setup for firewalls and ports, server settings, virtual networks, backups and data recovery, backup power, remote diagnostics & reporting, and network controller monitoring.

Topics Include: TUNet Architecture, Association - How it Works and How to Resolve, Recommended Maintenance Procedures, LAN Device Status Fields, Troubleshooting Tools (220 & IP), System Processes, Care & Feeding of TUNet, Exercises

Presenters will also share experiences and best practices from real world migration scenarios.

Track 3 features topics appropriate for any level of TUNet user. The Applications & Solutions track will feature metering, TUNet administration & IT, as well as the latest feature enhancements and application offerings such as enhanced load control, CLVR, and Distribution Automation.
