Raleigh, North Carolina – April 19, 2011 – Tantalus, a leading provider of two-way, real-time data communications for utilities, today announced the appointment of industry veteran Ron Holcomb as Vice President of Business Development. In his new role, Mr. Holcomb will guide Tantalus’ business development initiatives for its industry-leading smart grid communications technology.

Holcomb brings to Tantalus more than 28 years of experience in the public power and communications industry.  Mr. Holcomb served as the President and CEO of electric power and telecommunications utility PES Energize in Pulaski, Tennessee. While at PES, he oversaw the successful implementation of a fiber network that provides voice, video, data services and smart grid/AMI applications to the utility’s customers.

Holcomb served public power in numerous leadership capacities including the TVPPA Board of Directors, serving as vice chairman in 2008. His experience in the Tennessee Valley will allow Tantalus to be in the forefront of industry issues as the company continues to gain traction with many of the progressive utilities located in the Tennessee Valley as well as in other areas of North America.

Previously, Mr. Holcomb served as a Senior Consulting Manager at Virchow Krause and Company and General Manager at Lowell Light and Power and Cable Television in Lowell, Michigan.

“Ron joins Tantalus during a period of exciting growth,” said Eric Murray, CEO of Tantalus. “His deep utility and telecommunications roots are a fitting combination for Tantalus, which operates at the intersection of those two worlds.”

Tantalus’ TUNet® communications systems are deployed at utilities throughout North America, helping customers better manage their energy resources. Since commercialization in 2004, the company has grown steadily, posting 500 percent revenue growth over the past three years alone. Tantalus’s workforce has expanded to match this rapid revenue growth, increasing by over 60% in the last 12 months. Mr. Holcomb will be based from Tantalus’ commercial headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, which continues to expand as demand for the company’s fast, reliable and future-proof technology increases.
