TANTALUS GROWS EXECUTIVE TEAM, CONTINUES EXPANSION

Raleigh, North Carolina – December 17, 2010 – Tantalus, a leading provider of two-way, real-time data communications for utilities, today signalled its growing Smart Grid market share with the announcement of the addition of two sales veterans.

Michael Julian will serve as the Vice President of Business Development and Bob Hannough has joined as the Vice President of Sales. Julian and Hannough will be working out of Tantalus’ commercial headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, located near some of the nation’s most progressive utilities, many of which are part of the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Tantalus’ systems are deployed throughout North America at utilities determined to manage energy resources wisely and provide customers with a high level of service. Since commercialization in 2004, the company has experienced tremendous growth, posting 500 percent revenue growth over the past three years and earning numerous high profile business and technology awards. Tantalus continues to grow as demand for its fast, reliable, broad-reach and future-proof technology increases.

Michael Julian joins Tantalus with over 15 years of sales experience in the technology and communications field.  Prior to joining Tantalus, Julian worked for General Electric and several leading telecom manufacturing companies including Catapult Communications, Tekelec, and Ericsson. Bob Hannough, who has over 30 years of sales experience in the technology and telecommunications sector, will lead Tantalus’ sales team.  Bob comes to Tantalus from Maritz Canada, where he grew the IBM account to include a full range of solutions ranging from partner outreach programs to eLearning instructional design. He also served as the Canadian regional sales manager at QSP Time Inc. and worked for GE Capital where he successfully led customer retention efforts.

“These high caliber executives add invaluable experience to our sales team, and will be instrumental in helping us keep our momentum on track,” said Tantalus President & CEO Eric Murray. “Michael and Bob will play an integral role at Tantalus as the company expands its market presence and continues to develop and deploy smart grid technologies at the forefront of utility needs.  Raleigh is an ideal location from which to spearhead this effort – the city has become a hot bed for smart grid technology and innovation.”

The Smart Grid industry continues to grow as interest in new capabilities increases and government stimulus funds create new jobs at both utilities and smart grid communications providers. Several utilities that have received stimulus grants from the U.S. Department of Energy use Tantalus communication technology to automate energy management and control.  In addition to expanding the Raleigh office, Tantalus is also expanding its R&D center in Vancouver, British Columbia.
